Kevin Milner is a research geophysicist at the U.S. Geological Survey. He is the lead developer for the OpenSHA seismic hazard analysis (SHA) platform (http://opensha.org/), and works to build National Seismic Hazard Models (NSHMs) at the USGS Geologic Hazards Science Center.
Milner has over 16 years of experience in scientific computing and model building. He became involved in SCEC as an undergraduate UseIT intern while pursuing his bachelors of science in computer science at the University of Southern California and was hired as full time research staff upon graduation in January 2008. While employed at SCEC, he completed a PhD in Geological Sciences (emphasis in Geophysics) in 2020 with former SCEC Director, Professor Tom Jordan. In 2024, he transitioned to a new position at the USGS where we continues to collaborate with SCEC researchers.
