About Me Publications
Senior Engineering Geologist with the California Geological Survey (CGS) in Los Angeles, serving in a Seismic Hazard Outreach and Technical Review role within the Seismic Hazards Program. In this position I coordinate outreach and education for the CGS Seismic Hazards Branch and provide senior technical review of essential facilities (public school and hospital) projects for the Essential Facilities Review Unit, where I've reviewed over 600 geotechnical investigation reports across California.

Over the last 16 years I've been involved in geologic mapping in the western Antelope Valley; active fault evaluations of the Santa Monica and Hollywood Faults in west Los Angeles and the San Cayetano Fault in Ventura County; liquefaction hazard zoning in the Sacramento area; and building a statewide digital CPT (cone penetration test) database sourced from public school and hospital review submittals to advance probabilistic liquefaction hazard assessment.

My post-disaster field response spans a range of events: the 2010 El Mayor-Cucapah, 2014 La Habra, 2019 Ridgecrest, and 2020 Lone Pine earthquakes; the 2018 Montecito debris flows and 2021/2022 Bond Fire burn-area flooding and mudflows; and post-tsunami flooding from the 2011 Tohoku-Oki and 2025 Kamchatka earthquakes and the 2022 Tonga volcanic eruption.

I'm passionate about science communication to both technical and non-technical audiences. I coordinate CGS outreach at ShakeOut events, public safety fairs, and museum family days, lead geology field trips for professional groups, and develop educational products that connect people to the geologic processes and hazards shaping California. I've also presented and co-authored peer-reviewed work on the state's geologic and tectonic history, earthquake events, and post-disaster response.
I'm a licensed Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist in California. Before joining CGS, I spent 11 years in private geotechnical practice conducting geologic investigations for public, residential, and commercial projects throughout southern California.
