Max Schneider is a Research Statistician in the Operational Aftershock Forecasting team at the United States Geological Survey. His research is on the quantification and visualization of uncertainty in spatial/spatiotemporal models of earthquakes, e.g, aftershock forecasts or seismic hazard assessments. This work follows two branches: he designs scientific visualizations for earthquake models and evaluates their effectiveness with user experiments. He also works on novel statistical approaches for the estimation and testing of earthquake forecasts, e.g, in the Pacific Northwest.
