About Me Publications
Patricia Persaud is a seismologist who specializes in leading large field campaigns with the goal of building new datasets for imaging Earth structure. She uses dense seismic arrays to develop high-resolution Earth models from earthquakes and explosive sources (Imperial and Coachella Valleys), and ambient noise (San Fernando, San Gabriel, Chino and San Bernardino basins). Her group mainly conducts research to identify the processes and subsurface features that impact earthquake hazard assessment and groundwater movement in densely populated areas such as Southern California. She also uses oil industry data to address issues of public concern by providing constraints on stress in the crust that will help to improve the accuracy of earthquake rupture scenarios and ground motion estimates.

She was a SCEC Mentor in 2020 and currently serves on the GSA Council. Her group has contributed two Earth models to SCEC’s UCVM software framework.
