Megan Ani Mirkhanian is a fourth year undergraduate student-athlete at the University of California Irvine, majoring in Earth System Science. Mirkhanian began her research for GeoGateway, a web map-based science gateway supported by NASA’s ACCESS program, at the beginning of 2018, with Professor Lisa Grant Ludwig, at the University of California Irvine. With the access and understanding of GeoGateway, Mirkhanian furthered her research as a SCEC Sure intern, where she explored tectonic deformation associated with recent seismic activity in the Cajon Pass region.
Mirkhanian has great interests in many aspects of the Earth System. She volunteers at the Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing at UCI, while juggling being an athlete. Mirkhanian runs for UCI's Track and Field and Cross Country teams, and will be finishing off her last season this upcoming year as she plans to graduate in the Spring of 2019. Her plans after graduation are to focus particularly on geophysics furthering her education.
