Jared Santa Maria is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Statistics and Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University. His general interests are based on a combination of Statistics and Computer Science. He is specifically interested in artificial intelligence, robotics, forecasting, and causality. In the future, he wishes to pursue a doctorate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
In the Summer of 2019, Jared was a UseIT intern working with the machine learning team on a time-dependent forecast using data generated from RSQSim - a physics-based earthquake simulator. In the Summer of 2020, Jared returned to SCEC as a SOURCES intern where he focused on expanding upon the work from the machine learning team in 2019.
