Karen Rodriguez is a graduate student in the Earth & Planetary Sciences department at Stanford University studying San Francisco Bay Area seismology and tectonics, where she also earned her B.S. with Honors in Geological Sciences in 2025. Her research focuses on modeling blind reverse faults using data mining on existing catalogs.
In addition to her primary field of study, Karen has a strong interest in machine learning and data ethics. She has worked on various research projects at Stanford creating metadata to build the datasets used to train machine learning algorithms. These algorithms typically used Natural Language Processing and the research ranged in topics from sustainability policy to women's roles in higher education.
