Corey Rightmyer is an undergraduate researcher at Cuesta College pursuing an A.S. in Geology. His academic interests include computational volcanology, geologic hazard monitoring and mitigation, and leveraging technologies such as robotics, machine learning, and data processing to better understand geologic processes, including igneous intrusion-induced earthquakes and earthquake swarm mechanics.

Currently, he interns remotely at the Statewide California Earthquake Center, working within the SCEC SOURCES program. Under the mentorship of Mark Benthien, his work focuses on revamping ShakeOut Scenario 2.0's public outreach efforts by consolidating, revising, and creating new articles, visuals, and resources. He is also focused on utilizing SCEC's in-house tools, such as SCEC VDO, Scenario ShakeMap Application, and SCEC CFM, to produce new maps, animations, and videos for the ShakeOut website. He will be presenting his work at the 2026 SCEC Annual Meeting.
