Hi, I'm Sandi Shwe Win, a recent graduate of Santa Monica College with an Associate's degree in Computer Science. I am currently completing additional coursework as I prepare to transfer to a four-year university. My interests include software development, data analysis, geospatial technologies, and applying computing to solve real-world problems.
As a SCEC intern, I work with Dr. Lucy Jones and Dr. Keith Porter on the ShakeOut 2.0 project alongside my teammates Ishmael Legaspi and Lamar Anderson. My primary research focuses on seismic remediation, expected earthquake losses, and remediation cost analysis. Through this internship, I am gaining hands-on experience with QGIS and geospatial datasets while supporting research on building vulnerability, earthquake risk, and community resilience.
As a Computer Science student, I enjoy building software and working with technologies such as Python, JavaScript, Next.js, and React. I hope to continue developing solutions that combine software engineering, data analysis, and scientific research to help address complex real-world challenges.
