About Me Publications
Karlee Rivera is completing her undergraduate degree in Earth Science at Cal State University Dominguez Hills. She will be graduating Spring 2021 with her B.S. in Earth Science. She is planning on pursuing her doctorate degree in geophysics. She is most interested in the studies of earthquakes. As a career, she wants to become a professor and conduct her own research in the future.

She is a 2020 SOURCES intern at the Southern California Earthquake Center and is taking part in the Basin Amplification Seismic INvestigation (BASIN) Project. This project focuses on characterizing the amplification of seismic waves in Los Angeles from the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Basin. Karlee is an LS-AMP scholar and had created her own research project. The purpose of the project was to determine if there is a correlation between property value and the proximity to fault lines. Using the ArcGIS systems, she produced a GIS map with various layers including: fault lines and raster data of property values in Los Angeles. In her free time, she likes to go hiking, spend time at the beach, and take her dogs on walks. She is also a student-athlete on the CSUDH softball team.
