He has more than 30 years experience in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA), development of ground-motion prediction equations (GMPEs), probabilistic modeling of soil profiles and their effects on earthquake ground motion, and probabilistic modeling of other natural hazards. Dr. Toro has a Civil Engineering degree (with Honors) from the National University of Colombia, and Master’s and PhD degrees in Civil Engineering from MIT. He has published more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and numerous technical reports to clients and funding agencies.
