Chelsey Assor is entering her 4th year as an undergraduate Earth Science major with a Geophysics emphasis at UC Santa Barbara. Originally from the San Fernando Valley, her Southern California upbringing is what sparked her interest in a career in Geophysics. This summer she is working as an SCEC SOURCS intern under Professor John Louie from University of Nevada, Reno in research on non-ergotic physics based earthquake hazard models for Nevada cities. She is excited for her first research experience and plans to integrate new skillsets into a senior thesis and graduate school.
At university she is on the board of the Undergraduate Earth Science club and lifeguards at the UCSB recreation center pool. In her free time she likes to cook, swim, and hike being close to the beach in Santa Barbara.
