Joseph is an undergraduate at the University of California, Santa Cruz studying physics and computer science. During SCEC SOURCES 2021, he worked with Dr. Valére Lambert to improve a numerical simulation of earthquakes faults. Joseph plans to attend graduate school in the future.
Prior to working at SCEC, Joseph worked to develop machine learning algorithms to characterize tuberculosis based on genotype. In addition, Joseph worked as a part of the Merian survey of dwarf galaxies and their dark matter halos.
Outside of academics, Joseph is the president of UCSC's collegiate triathlon team where he competes with other universities. He also works on personal software projects, mountain bikes and does a little bit of screen printing.
