Daniel S. Helman, Ph.D. is an artist and language teacher who became interested in finishing earlier studies in geology, and in the process became a (mad) scientist with professional publications such as "Catching Lightning for Alternative Energy." Dr. Helman is famous in some circles for his math and science-based play, Hypatia's Math, which was produced at the Flagstaff Festival of Science and the Maryland STEM Festival in 2016, and is published in the Journal of Humanistic Mathematics. He currently works with the Winkle Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps independent scientists secure funding.
