Hi, I’m Ashley Seeman. I’m an undergraduate student at San Diego State University pursuing a B.S. in Geology, graduating in spring 2028. I’m especially interested in geologic hazards, computational geoscience, and the ways large‑scale modeling can help us understand and prepare for natural processes that shape California’s landscape.

I’m currently a SCEC intern, working with Dr. Elbana and Dr. Zhao on the ShakeOut 2.0 project. My work involves designing and processing dynamic rupture simulations, but the experience has also introduced me to broader geoscience applications of high‑performance computing, scientific workflows, and large‑scale modeling. Through this internship, I’m learning how computational tools can support hazard assessment, infrastructure planning, and community resilience across a range of geologic environments—not just seismic ones.

I’m actively exploring internship opportunities for summer 2027 and beginning to research graduate programs where I can continue developing skills in geologic modeling, hazard analysis, and Earth system science.
