Data Grid Federation
Arcot Rajasekar, Michael Wan, Reagan W. Moore, & Wayne SchroederPublished June 2004, SCEC Contribution #904
Data Grids manage data that are distributed across multiple sites by implementing logical name spaces for users, resources, and files. A Data Grid Federation manages consistency and access controls when two independent data grids share either files or resources, or share access to resources. Data Grid federations are classified into three categories: peer-to-peer, replication, and hierarchical. For each category, multiple types of federations are presented. Generic federation infrastructure based on zoneSRB, Storage Resource Broker version 3.1, is presented. ZoneSRB supports all of the federation types.
