We hosted a one-day Community Geodetic Model (CGM) Workshop in conjunction with the SCEC Annual Meeting on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at the Hilton Palm Springs in California. We received 32 applications to join the workshop, ultimately accommodating 28 in-person participants, including us two conveners, and one online participant, who unfortunately was traveling elsewhere at the time. We designed the workshop around the concepts of initial presentations to allow the audience to be introduced to and catch up with recent relevant research work and interests by members of the CGM Working Group and others within the wider community; specific demonstrations of CGM activities, products and access to date; then breakout groups allow as many voices as possible to be heard to solicit feedback and input; and open discussion sessions to map out the most pressing research and future directions. We concluded the workshop with a renewed enthusiasm for the collective effort, individual contributions and, crucially, a raised awareness among the geodetic and user communities, particularly among early-career participants and those focused on northern California. We heard direct invocation of the CGM in presentations and at posters throughout the remainder of the Annual Meeting in the days after our workshop.
