Intellectual Merit

By demonstrating that obvious body wave phases can be identified on observed broadband seismograms and that they can be modeled wiggle by wiggle up to 4HZ, we will contribute to the understanding of the upper frequency limit of deterministic ground-motion predictions (Science Objective B3). Also, a better constrained geometry, Vp and Vs velocity contrast across the basin interface will be very useful for improving the community velocity models (e.g., CVM-H) (Science Objective C). |
Broader Impacts
|
With detailed analysis of broadband waveforms, the project demonstrates the usefulness of high quality waveform data in understanding shallow crustal structure. Also the study shows that waveform data modeling is interesting, thus attracting young researchers towards waveform-oriented studies. |
