This project represents an important component of the USR Focus Area efforts to development community fault models in California. These models are used as the basis for probabilistic seismic hazards assessments, geodetic block modeling to infer fault slip rates, and strong ground motion predictions. |
Broader Impacts
|
This project involved a senior research associate and the PI. The project made a series of improvement to the Statewide Community Fault Model to support its use in UCERF 3, which will enable more accurate earthquake hazard forecasting. The benefits to society are manifest in more accurate seismic hazards assessments that will be developed by these models. |
